Coffee purists already know how great the Chemex is, but this easy to use and artistic coffeemaker is perfect for everyone.
Your first reaction is to the striking design. The Chemex looks both futuristic and old fashioned at the same time. Simple and elegant yet groovy and - dare I say it - funky. Surely, this is a case of form over function, right? Wrong… coffee aficionados have backed the Chemex since 1941 for its pure coffee flavor with no bitterness. It has been called one of the 100 best designed products of modern times.

About the Chemex Classic Series Coffee Maker:
The Chemex® coffeemaker is an elegant, one-piece, hourglass shaped vessel made of high quality, heat resistant glass. The traditional model comes to you with a polished wood collar and leather tie. The collar serves as an insulated handle around the middle of the coffeemaker.
The Chemex® coffeemaker, together with Chemex-Bonded® Coffee Filter, makes perfect coffee; Clear, pure, flavorful and without bitterness or sediment every time. The coffee only comes in contact with the scientifically designed filter and non-porous glass. With the Chemex® method, you can make coffee as strong as you like without bitterness. It is perfect for iced coffee and coffee flavoring for gourmet recipes. Because of its purity, Chemex® brewed coffee can be covered and stored in the refrigerator for reheating...without losing its flavor!
The History of Chemex:
The Chemex Coffeemaker was invented in 1941 by Dr. Peter Schlumbohm PhD. Made simply from non-porous, borosilicate glass and fastened with a wood collar and tie; it brews coffee without imparting any flavors of its own. On permanent display at MOMA NY and other fine museums, it is truly a work of art.
Chemex is a family owned company with a headquarters located in Western Massachusetts where the Coffeemakers, bonded filters, Hand blown water kettle and accessories are manufactured and distributed worldwide.
Their mission is to provide superior coffee brewing equipment. The iconic Chemex has remained unchanged for 70 years and counting. “We take pride in the quality of our product and customer service and look forward to providing both for years to come.”
Instructions – They’re simpler than you might think!
- Coffee grinds and a filter sit in the top (about 1 tbsp per 5-oz cup, give or take)
- Splash hot water on the grinds allowing them to “bloom”.
- Pour the rest of the water over the grinds until the desired amount of coffee is made (pour in stages, soaking the grinds but not filling the water too high).
