Our Coffee

All of our coffees are gourmet-quality just like you would find from any other gourmet/specialty roaster- the only difference being that we price at the wholesale level by default for everybody. We roast ALL of our coffee in-house, and have complete control over the quality and freshness of the beans. Coffee Bean Direct currently roasts more than 70 varieties of coffee!

25-lb Burlap

All roasted coffee is sold in four bag sizes: 1-lb, 2.5-lb, 5-lb, and 25-lb. The 1 lb bags are foil lined, stand-up pouch bags which are heat sealed and have a zip-loc closure. The 2.5-lb and 5-lb bags are 2-ply foil bags with one-way valves. These bags are heat sealed to ensure that no outside air can get in. Because fresh-roasted coffee gives off gas right after it is roasted, the valve is needed to let the pressure release. Home users and businesses that wish to store coffee longer are best served by 5-lb valve bags.

25-lb burlap bags are plastic lined (no beans are in direct contact with the actual burlap material) and sewn tightly shut. These bags
are ideal for customers who go through a large amount of coffee quickly. Coffee sold in 25-lb burlaps also goes for the lowest
price-per-pound. It's the best value.

Roast Levels

Most of our roasted coffee listings contain a chart indicating the roast level of the coffee bean. Our principal roast level is Light/Cinnamon.

Light Roast

Light Roast

Also known as Cinnamon or American Roast. This roast is generally milder and sweeter tasting than darker roasts. These beans have a light color and are non-oily.

French Roast

French Roast

Generally richer and more tart than other roasts. These beans are quite oily and very dark brown. Some people prefer this as their Espresso roast.

City Roast

City Roast

Also known as Medium Roast. City Roasts are often richer in taste than light coffees. These beans are a dark brown color, but are not roasted dark enough to become very oily.

Italian Roast

Italian Roast

The darkest roast we do. The beans are black and very oily. Has a pronounced burned flavor and body. Ideal as an Espresso roast.
