Details
Sencha is one of the most popular green teas in the world. Rolled, steamed, and then pan fired as a means to seal in flavor, Sencha tea leaves are flat and slender with a bright green coloration.
Our current grade of Sencha green tea is grown on one of the largest single-owned farms in Zhejiang, China. While Sencha is known to be from Japan, this estate in China specializes in Japanese-style steam shaded teas. The estate is USDA organic certified and meets strict Japan and European tea import standards.
Zhejiang is famous for its mountain mists which help protect the tea leaves from direct sunlight. The high altitude allows for the mist to stay and allows for fewer bugs – which means fewer pesticides. Japanese tea growers, who don't have such high and misty mountains, will try to artificially produce the same result by covering the tea plants under canopies, allowing them to only receive indirect light.
This tea is sold loose leaf, meaning it will not arrive packed in tea bags.

Steeping Instructions:
- 1 Teaspoon per cup
- Use water that is approximately 165 degrees Fahrenheit (Water that is boiling will “cook” green and white teas, causing a bitter, unpleasant taste)
- Steep for 1-2.5 minutes (over steeping green teas will also cause bitterness)
